The NRA Collaborative worked on a design proposal for a new shopping mall in the coastal town, Byron Bay. The new development incorporated a cinema, supermarket, cafés, shops, a gallery and a car park.
Aspiring to become a precinct which would reshape the area, the design proposed integrated a naturally ventilated and lit covered courtyard and drew inspiration from its surrounding environment through the use of sustainable materials.
Plans for this shopping plaza provided space for a large number of visitors and ensured an easy flow of movement, especially with the potential of becoming overly crowded.
The interior design proposed also ensured an aligned style with Byron Bay’s creative and artistic culture and aimed at maintaining the naturally laid-back vibe that makes Byron Bay such an attractive location for visitors in Queensland.
